Guitar Repair
Guild D55C
Cutaway

It might have been 2006, I lose track of time. My dear friend and world class luthier Larry Brown died suddenly of a big heart attack. He left behind a few unfinished projects, including this 1968 Guild D55 cutaway.
Larry was one of my heros. Nobody taught me more about guitar repair than he did. I admired his work.
This guitar sat disassembled in my good friend Wayne Griffith's shop until I purchased it from him and set out to complete the job. The cutaway had been made, the binding removed the fingerboard removevd (and lost?) the bridge removed and Wayne glued a piece of rosewood onto the gap. The job is now about 2/3 done and when finished should be a 'cracking good' flat top guitar. Despite the difficulty involved, I have chosen the original 9 piece binding motife, complete with mitred joins. The original finish will be retained for acoustic reasons. It represents work in progress, with an estimated completion some time this year, 2016. This guitar will probably be offered for sale.
